Circuitpark Zandvoort

Formula 1 circuit park Zandvoort

Circuit Zandvoort is a race ciruit located in the dunes of Zandvoort aan Zee. Finally, Formula 1 will return to the Zandvoort Circuit in 2020 after a 35-year absence. This is one to watch: the Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix. Nevertheless, Zandvoort Circuit is much more than only Formula 1. Each year it hosts various races like the Easter and Pentecost races or the Zandvoort 500.

You could of course also decide to drive on the circuit yourself. More can be found about this exciting once-in-a-lifetime experience on the official Circuit Zandvoort website. Thanks to for example the Race Experience. You could even go for your own race license.

The Zandvoort circuit is located at the north of Zandvoort town at about 2 kilometres from the Doppenberg Collection hotels. Therefore, the Doppenberg accommodations are the perfect base to go and watch a race. Or if you would prefer racing yourself.

Amsterdam

Making an Amsterdam Canal cruise. Or visiting the Museumplein with its world-famous museums like the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum and the Stedelijk Museum. Or what about a visit to Artis, the oldest zoo of the Netherlands. Honestly, one day is barely enough to see a part of Amsterdam. But better one day than no day at all… should be the spirit.

Amsterdam is only a 25-minute train ride from Zandvoort. It’s the perfect way to discover and explore Amsterdam because your car will be parked at the Doppenberg Collection Hotel. Bye bye traffic and parking space problems. The Doppenberg Collection accommodations are situated at about 600 metres from the Zandvoort train station.

Surroundings

In the wider Zandvoort area there is of course a lot more to do. For the ones who would like to go shopping or relaxing on a terrace, the train heads to Haarlem. This train takes you within 10 minutes to Haarlem centre. Haarlem is also the place to be for visitors of the Frans Hals Museum or the Teylers Museum (the oldest museum of the Netherlands). One could also decide to visit the Grote of St. Bavo Church at the Grote Markt (main square) or the new St. Bavo (which is the cathedral of Haarlem diocese).

When you jump on your bike and head for the north by passing through the National Park Zuid-Kennemerland, you will reach IJmuiden with its largest sea lock in the world and a long chain of World War II bunkers which were part of the German Atlantikwall.

Farther away, but easily accessible by car is the Zaanse Schans with its picturesque houses and windmills.

There is a lot to do and to see in the wider Zandvoort aan Zee area. Additional leaflets and brochures can be found at the Hotel Doppenberg Reception. Getting bored is no option!
